The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo - Featured on the Animal Planet as the The Little Zoo That Could. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo - opened in June 1989 as Zooland Animal Park. The zoo was founded as a private enterprise by Joey Ward of Gulf Shores. In 1991, the Ward family created the Zoo Foundation, Inc., a non-profit corporation, and donated the 17 acres of prime real estate that makes up the zoo today. Three years later, the Ward family and the Erie Meyer Foundation graciously donated an additional 13 acres, which are still undeveloped.

The Cotton Creek Golf Course has18 holes of Arnold Palmer designed golf. With rolling fairways and large greens, Cotton Creek is very playable from the forward tees and a true championship test from the back tees. Host to the 1992 State Amateur Championship, rated in the top ten in the state, Cotton Creek is definitely one of the jewels on the Gulf Coast. This course measures 6,581 yards from the men’s tees with a Slope rating of 130. Soft spikes only facility.

The National Musem of Naval Aviation - There are so many things to do inside the museum, including IMAX movies, motion-based simulator rides, lunch in the Cubi Bar Café, guided tours of the museum and flight line. You can spend an entire day here and not see it all! The museum is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closing only on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Admission to the museum is free.
