Are you a seafood lover? Then come check out the amateur oyster cook-off at The Hangout and see who takes home first prize!

Join in or just enjoy the feast!
You're invited to show off your mama's famous oyster recipe at this year's amateur oyster cook-off. But don't be thinking this will be an easy home run; you'll be competing with many local chefs and home cooks for the top prize. There is one catch though, oysters must be served in 3 different fashions: Rockerfeller, Gulf Coast Cajun and Create Your Own Raw Oyster. Of course, if cooking isn't your cup of tea you can always join the competition as a taster! Fresh oysters from our own Gulf Shores will be served along with plenty of sides including rice dishes, bread, potatoes - you name it! Other food and drink trucks can be found throughout the festival.

Everyone is welcome!
You might want to be a seafood lover to enjoy this event, but nonetheless all are welcome to attend.  This is a great way to discover more about the Gulf Shore and our environment while getting to mingle with locals. This event is open to all ages and the best part is: it's free to attend! Competing in the competition is a different story with a $300 fee in order to enter. For more details on how to enter visit the Hangout Cook-Off website. This event will happen on November 2nd, 2019 beginning at 11:00 am and ending at 7:00 pm. You'll find the amateur oyster cook-off located at The Hangout on 101 E Beach Blvd.

Best Western on the Beach is lucky to have such a central location as we are a quick 7-minute walk to The Hangout where the cook-off is hosted. Booking with our hotel not only ensures great location but we also offer a variety of stylish, comfortable suites along with all the amenities you need while away from home.
